I draw from a variety of therapeutic orientations. In individual therapy my approach is relational and client-centered. We will work together, mostly you talking and me listening and asking questions to help you get to your full truth. That said, I also look at all therapy through a somatic lens. This is the connection between your mind and body. I am trained in Somatic Transformation and incorporate those techniques both subtly and in clear somatic exercises when appropriate and desired by the client.
I believe we are all affected by the life we have lived and experiences or traumas we have had from childhood on up to now. We will explore those as they are relevant.
Group Therapy
Some clients will desire a deeper healing of their childhood and will be best helped by my Corrective Experiencing Groups. These are closed groups of adults wanting a deeper experience. They meet once a week. There is a structure that allows your powerful adult to grow as well as the more vulnerable child parts of you to have a corrective experience. Clients start with individual therapy and when ready and desiring, we can talk more about the availability of group work.
Clientele
The lives that my clients have led have put them on a path that is not working in some way for them. Perhaps anxiety and depression or just a feeling of "there must be more than this to life." Sometimes there is a lot of trauma in their past or just a general feeling of not being ok. I work with people of various gender identities, sexual orientations, races, cultures and lifestyles. I have a lot of experience coaching parents, I am open to helping people find their connection to God in their own religious or spiritual way. My goal is to help clients find a life that works for them, not to teach them what works for me.
